Anyone that cans needs this tool. I can reach into the scalding water with this wand and pick up a lid, then place it on the can. Wow, no burns. It is a lot better than trying to fish out a lid with a fork (my old way). It helps to keep everything sterile while canning.

Anyone who does home canning needs one of these lid lifters - it's made to lift canning lids out of boiling water while protecting fingers from the heat. The magnet is strong enough to pick up ONE lid yet not so strong that it picks up multiple lids at one time. Just to clarify, it is not meant to lift pots or open lids on jars or do anything else.
It's sold here on Amazon at a very inexpensive price and you can get it shipped to you free if you have an order totaling $25 or more. I haven't seen it sold cheaper any other place, and usually you have to buy a "kit" with the tongs and other supplies to get this item.
